GLAZPART FOCUSES ON MEDICAL DEVICES SECTOR

Friday 23rd January

In the last 12 months, Glazpart participated in two niche events for the medical devices sector.

Reflecting on the success of their 2025 activities to engage with this specialist sector, the Glazpart team is already planning for more events in 2026 to make an even bigger impact.

On October 3rd, Glazpart exhibited in London at the SEHTA (Science and Engineering Health Technology Alliance) International MedTech Expo & Conference which was hailed by SEHTA as a resounding success.

SEHTA welcomed 215 delegates to the event which had 23 Sponsors and Exhibitors, representing the vibrant communities of MedTech, Life Sciences, NHS, and Business Support services.

In the same week, Glazpart also exhibited at  Bio-forward 2025, at Oxford Technology Park, hosted by OBN. BioForward is OBN’s ‘Where Companies Go to Grow’ Life Sciences event, designed to provide the support, skills, know-how and industry connections required to enable company growth in this specialist sector.

As a member of SEHTA, Glazpart earmarked both events as opportunities to grow their profile and create awareness of their manufacturing capability to produce innovative products for the medical devices sector.

At both events Glazpart’s team Dean Bradley and Fay Bibi were on hand to share their expertise, show product samples and discuss Glazpart’s role as specialist plastic components manufacturer and supplier to the sector.

Reflecting on the events, Fay Bibi, Custom and Specialty Products Manager shared her views, “Glazpart has been manufacturing and supplying bespoke components for the medical devices sector for over 15 years, so it made perfect sense to sharpen our focus on this specialist sector. Both events were excellent for raising our brand profile and for engaging with potential customers.”

Dean Bradley, Glazpart Sales Director added, “Glazpart operates across many industries but this last year or so we have started to increase our activity to promote our services and products for the medical devices sector. Now we are members of SEHTA, we are attending their niche events where we can promote our services and components and directly engage with key players in the sector. In addition, we have been raised our profile and activity on social media, in the trade media and via partnerships with related sector organisations like SEHTA and GMTA.”

Glazpart is a unique manufacturer having evolved with over 40 years of experience. The company has a diverse range of services including 47 injection moulding machines supported with its own bespoke tool room, controlled manufacturing area (clean area), full assembly services and vast array of surface finishing. Using the latest technology Glazpart delivers a wide range of injection moulded plastic products.

Today, Glazpart is a “one stop shop“ offering a complete service from technical consultation to identify issues and create solutions through to product design and injection moulding capability right through to surface finishing. In addition, Glazpart can also cater for a wide range of secondary processes and finishes these include laser, pad, screen printing as well as hydro-dip (aqua) printing, vacuum foiling and spray painting (including RFI).

Fay Bibi, commented, “With my primary focus on custom mouldings and specialty products, it’s been important to share my knowledge with technical managers and decision makers from a diverse range of companies, many of which were actively looking for innovative plastic injected moulding solutions.”

Glazpart’s services start with its expert technical and engineering teams where customers are supported in the design, development and production of their concepts and ideas. The team assist in ensuring products meet customers’ design and performance criteria whilst optimising production costs to the necessary quality levels. Being based in Banbury, Oxfordshire, also helps shorten delivery lead times and makes the company easily accessible.

Dean Bradley explains, “In the last few years, Glazpart has invested heavily in the latest CAD/CAM software giving an in-house design facility with 2D and 3D software packages to ensure responsiveness, adaptability and accuracy. Rapid design is possible with SLA and 3D printed samples of finished design concepts being made available for fit and function assessment. In addition, some of our recent projects have seen Glazpart’s engineers replace costly metal components with engineered injection moulded replacements saving customers thousands of pounds.”

Glazpart’s focus on the medical devices sector is set to sharpen even more in 2026 with the company already planning to attend medical technology exhibitions next year in Coventry and in Ireland as well as continuing to attend SEHTA events.

Fay Bibi summarised, “Glazpart’s expertise in plastic injection moulding stretches back 40 years but the company needs to remain at the sharp end of the technology to meet the demands of specialist markets such as the medical devices sector. 2025 has been a busy and productive year and we’re looking forward to even more activity in 2026, to help companies in the sector find practical and affordable product solutions.”

AN INTERVIEW WITH MELANIE BIVENS

9th January 2026

Women in the Industry section in Glass News (January 2026 edition), Melanie Bivens, Glazpart Area Sales Manager

At Work

How did you get into the industry?

Whilst on maternity leave with my daughter, I’d never used a recruitment agency before. I gave it a go and my first interview was with Glazpart. At the time, I had no idea what fenestration was, let alone trickle vents and plastic injection moulding. But after some extensive googling, I managed to get my head around it and got the job!

What was your first job after school/college?

When I was at college and after I graduated, I worked in a lovely little country pub which had a bar and restaurant and held many events including music nights, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve etc. It was great times, but I worked some very long days and nights.

Brief resume of jobs up to current position?

Whilst working in hospitality, I also worked full time in a contact centre for a renowned bank. I didn’t feel it was for me so I moved into care work, first with elderly and then adults with disabilities. Looking for more sociable hours I decided to move into the hygiene sector and was offered a job in sales/account management and I loved it. After four years, I joined a national builders merchant doing much the same thing, until I joined Glazpart.

Are your skills transferable to any industry?

Yes. This is proven for me, as I’ve done a similar job is three different industries. As long as you’re good with people and do what you say you’re going to do, then you can learn about the products. In my opinion, being honest, helpful and having a good sense of humour are key skills to success.

Career path mapped or opportunities?

I’ve not had any part of my career mapped out. My original thought was to be an actress after gaining a drama school place in London. But decided not to go for a few reasons, so now I just go with the flow and take opportunities as they come. I believe in what’s meant to be, will be.

5/10 years’ time?

I like to think I’ll still be with Glazpart and in the industry. I love working for Glazpart, they are the best company I’ve ever worked for. So, I’ve got no plans to go anywhere – unless I get a massive lottery win.

At Play

All work & no play makes Jill a dull girl. True or False?

100% true! There’s no point in working really hard without some enjoyment. If you spend a lot of time working you’ve got to do the other things in life that make you happy.

Work/life balance?

I’m getting there with this one. It’s been a busy year both in work and familywise. With the big things out of the way, I’m looking forward to some good rest and relaxation after a pre-Christmas break to Lapland with the whole family. Hopefully in 2026 I can start to enjoy more of a work/life balance.

Money/leisure time no object, what would you like to do for yourself & family?

I would travel, just pack up and go wherever I fancied. I got married in Italy and I fell in love with it so I’d like to see more. An American road trip would be a dream as I love the USA. Also, just spending time with my family and to be able to say yes to anything they want. I’d also extend my bag and shoe collection, ha-ha.

At Rest

Away from work – what’s your focus?

Outside of work, family is my focus. My daughter is three going on thirteen and she keeps us on our toes plus with 4 step kids it’s always loud and busy. Also, my family and I love watching football and being big Arsenal fans we enjoy going to the Emirates Stadium, especially as they are going so well in all competitions this season.

What activities help you switch off?

As boring as it sounds, I like to go for a walk or read a book. I try to reduce time on my phone and devices in the evenings and just be with my husband and kids. I like to watch late night murder documentaries which might not help my sleep, but there’s just something about them.

        FOUR G25 NOMINATIONS FOR GLAZPART

        7 October 2025

Glazpart was thrilled to hear the recent announcement that the company has been shortlisted as finalists in four different categories at this year’s G-Awards including:

        • Customer Care Initiative of the Year
        • Promotional Campaign of the Year
        • Component Supplier of the Year
        • Sustainability Initiative of the Year

The nominations reflect Glazpart’s unprecedented success in 2025 which is extra special as the company celebrates its 40th anniversary.

Dean Bradley, Glazpart Sales Director commented, “It is a landmark year for Glazpart and it’s been made even more special with these four nominations for the prestigious G Awards. We believe we have received the most nominations for any company in the industry at this year’s awards which clearly shows our progress across our marketing, sales and customers service initiatives, whilst being nominated for the Component Supplier of the Year, underlines our smooth operations, logistics and high levels of customer service, including dynamic new product development in 2025.”

The four nominations highlight Glazpart’s work across several different areas of activity.

The Customer Care Initiative is for the progress of the Glazpartners programme which has seen  65 companies from across the glazing supply chain, subscribe to the marketing initiative in just over 2 years. The initiative which is designed to bring closer collaboration with customers has the additional benefit for Glazpartners, with the multi-channel marketing of their companies and brands. This year,  Glazpart has added even more benefits with increased Glazpartners promotion at events as well as new and improved promotional channels, including an annual brochure (Glazpartners Supplement) in digital and print format, new pages on the Glazpart website and creative animated banners and videos for social media.

For the Promotional Campaign of the Year, Glazpart’s FIT Show marketing was recognised. The marketing activity around FIT Show was comprehensive and innovative with, new stand layout and HD lightbox graphics, new product launches and on-stand demonstrations, promotion of Glazpartners and celebration of Glazpart’s 40th anniversary. The activities were promoted consistently over a period of 6 months in the trade media, on social media, on Glazpart’s website and in the newly launched Glazpartners News monthly e-newsletter.

In the Component Supplier of the Year category, Glazpart has shown how investment in people, research and development and state of the art machinery has ensured customers receive on time delivery of high quality products manufactured in England.

Being shortlisted for the Sustainability Initiative of the Year is new territory for Glazpart. Their stand at FIT Show was awarded Gold (the highest standard) award for sustainability of the company’s stand. The award was confirmed by Better Stands, the independent organisation that collaborates across the events and exhibition industry to promote and ensure the use of sustainable materials for reusable stands.

Before the FIT Show, Better Stands identified the sustainable elements of Glazpart’s FIT Show stand that could be re-used after the FIT Show.  The stand was methodically dismantled, then carefully stored, packed and transported back to Glazpart’s HQ in Banbury, with elements ready to use for Glazpart’s next event/exhibitions. Indeed the Glazpart stand has already been re-used at four smaller events.

Now in its 20th anniversary, the G-Awards is the longest standing and most distinguished awards in the glass and glazing sector. The event is dedicated to rewarding innovation and exceptional performance in the UK market. Combining networking, recognition and entertainment, hundreds of professionals in the glass and glazing sector come together each year for the Gala Dinner Event to celebrate the best in the industry.

Dean Bradley summarises, “The G25 awards is the most prestigious in our sector, we are delighted to be nominated and recognised for our work and to be part of such a great event. We very much look forward to the Gala Dinner evening at the end of November and best of luck to all the finalists.”

          GLAZERITE JOIN GLAZPARTNERS

          12 September 2025

Glazpart is pleased to announce that Glazerite have become Glazpartners.

With over 25 years in the window and door fabrication industry, Glazerite has grown through a steadfast commitment to quality, innovation, and strong partnerships.

Glazerite’s success is built on the dedication of their experienced team, the trust of our customers, and close collaboration with our suppliers – all working together to deliver UK-wide exceptional product solutions for windows, doors and conservatories.

From their humble beginnings to becoming one of the UK’s leading trade fabricators, their journey is marked by growth and adaptability to meet their customers’ evolving needs.

On becoming a Glazpartner, Jeff Dunn, Glazerite Sales and Commercial Director commented, “We’ve worked with Glazpart for over 20 years and more recently we’ve used their Link Vents to meet the compliance requirements for background ventilation for our windows. We’re therefore delighted to be Glazpartners which fits perfectly with our own mission and ethos. Glazerite is more than just a fabricator and like Glazpart, we’re a partner for success. From expert technical expertise and dedicated account management to tailored marketing support and installer tools, we offer our customers everything they need to grow their business. We look forward to further strengthening our great working relationship with Glazpart.”

Glazerite clearly value partnerships and this extends to their suppliers. Already a customer of Glazpart for several years and now a Glazpartner, Glazerite had already found the best solution for trickle ventilation in Glazpart’s Link Vent, before the Building Regulations (Approved Document F – ventilation) interim changes in June 2022.

Glazpart’s ‘Link Vent’ range sizes include 5000, 4000 and 2500 EQA. The vents are designed to fully comply with Building Regulations, Approved Document F1 (means of ventilation).

The Link Vent follows a clever design that is simple and user-friendly for both opening and closing – the innovative closing action allows the closure plate to be positioned so that it is easy to control and reduces draughts by directing air away from occupants.

With smart design, easy fitting and functionality as well as a huge choice of 1000s of colours and decorative finishes, it is clear to see why the Link Vent is the perfect choice for fabricators who want to do the job right.

Dean Bradley, Glazpart Sales Director adds, “It’s great to have Glazerite join the Glazpartners initiative. They are a company with an outstanding reputation for delivering a large range of high quality products manufactured to the highest industry standards. Their collaborative and inclusive approach with installers, partners, customers and suppliers mirror images Glazpart’s approach. We are looking forward to continuing our strong partnership.”

Launched at FIT Show 2023, Glazpartners is a unique and attractive initiative with 65 companies joining since May 2023 and all being promoted at FIT Show 2025. The initiative has enjoyed record PR coverage, numerous award nominations with ultimate recognition at The Installer Awards in March 2024, when Glazpartners won “Best Customer Support Programme”.

            A PARTNERSHIP BUILT ON TRUST

            11 August 2025

Glazpart is delighted that award-winning manufacturer Direct Trade (Yorkshire) Ltd is a Glazpartner as their working relationship (now in its 8th year), continues to grow stronger.

Established in 1998, Direct Trade is one of the UK’s leading trade window, door and conservatory manufacturers.

Based in Doncaster, they operate out of over a 100,000ft facility within which they manufacture PVCu windows and doors, composite doors, conservatory roofs and aluminium products.

Like Glazpart, Direct Trade has significantly invested in high-tech machinery and vehicles to ensure their work is to the highest quality and delivered on time.

            On being a Glazpartner Mark Powell, Sales Director of Direct Trade commented;

“We supply Glazpart’s Link Vent which is well received by our customers as the ideal ventilation solution. Reliable, quality products that fully comply with building regulations are essential and the Glazpart range certainly ticks all the boxes.”

            Direct Trade’s product range includes:

            • PVCu windows and doors in Veka Halo System 10 (chamfered) and Rustique (ovolo) systems
            • Epwin Stellar aluminium windows, doors, bi-fold and sliding doors
            • AluK bi-folding doors and patio doors
            • Solidor and Xtremedoor composite doors
            • Wendland conservatory roofs and lantern roofs

The company carries out deliveries nationwide, twice weekly, supplying window installers and tradesmen across the UK via a fleet of over 30 vehicles including 7.5 tonne Ford Cargos and Mercedes Sprinter panel vans.

In addition to the above, customer service is at the heart of Direct Trade’s company ethos as they continuously seek to meet the needs of any customers, they we work with.

Given their high-quality product range, UK wide supply and their first-class approach to customer service, it came as no surprise when in October 2024, Direct Trade won the Fabricator/Manufacturer of The Year at the National Fenestration Awards (NFAs).

Direct Trade also has a Trade Counter to directly supply windows and doors to tradesmen and window installers in Doncaster and the surrounding areas. The Trade Counter also acts as a recycling point for customers’ old frames and as a place where customers can get technical advice on all products from the Direct Trade team of friendly, experienced staff.

            On Glazpart’s partnership with Direct Trade, Dean Bradley, Glazpart Sales Director commented;

“Direct Trade is a shining example of a Glazpartner. They are constantly doing the job right, ensuring they are complying with regulations by using components such as Glazpart’s award-winning Link Vent. It’s clear that Direct Trade not only values trusted suppliers but also has a sharp focus on manufacturing high quality products, offering superb customer service and delivering on time. We are delighted they are Glazpartners and we look forward to working with Mark and his team on future product solutions.”

            Danny Colton, Managing Director of Direct Trade commented ;
