AluVent

Compliant
Meets the building regulations requirements of Approved Document F in England and Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Eire. Following the conclusion of the Future homes standard in England the Aluvent will comply for new build applications. From the 24th March 2027. Wales is also expected to follow the same model.

Surface mounted
The AluVent is designed to be surface mounted, giving the option to fit to the sash, frame or even the mounted to a knock on profile  this makes the AluVent versatile, sleek in design seating seamlessly against your aluminium profile.

Low Profile
The AluVent’ s low height design delivers background ventilation through a tricklevent which is exceptionally unobtrusive.

Unique “Offset” Clip Design
The clips unique offset design means that it can be fitted in the sash profile, whilst acting as guides that hold the vent or canopy in position whilst screw fixing.

Compliant delivery of equivalent area (EQA)
Available in three standard sizes 2500 EQA, 4000 EQA & 5000 EQA (Equivalent areas) to meet both today’s Building regulations (Approved document F for England + Wales) including the future requirements for new build Approved Document F compliance from March 24th , 2027.

Equivalent Area (EQA) Marking
Each size of the AluVent has the EQA moulded into the end cap so it can be clearly seen from inside the window. So it’s simple to check regulatory compliance.

Colour matched end caps
The AluVent is delivered with colour matched end caps to compliment the powder coated aluminium giving it a more complete finished look.

Low carbon aluminium
Made from low carbon aluminium. AluVent Extrusions are produced using Hydro’s LCR4 low-carbon billet. This is a major step forward in sustainable aluminium which is Certified and fully traceable. Giving a maximum 4.0kg CO₂e per kg of aluminium (Global avg: 14.8kg )

The AluVent’s environmental credentials are strong especially as it contains 40% post consumer recycled aluminium scrap.

Bar length
Mill finish bar lengths are also available, in order that you can cut and powder coat the trickle vents profiles in house as needed.

Mill finished
AluVent’s product packs are available in sets with the choice of either black or white end caps to go with your in house powder coated profile as desired.

Easy, simple and quick assembly
The AluVent end caps are designed with an interference fit for quick, easy assembly, grilles lock into place to provide a robust fitted product.

End caps interlock with the canopy grille
The end caps and clips have been cleverly designed with an interlocking system that prevents the end caps from coming loose and disengaging from the body of the vent once it is screwed into place.

Closure plates are foam insulated
The AluVent is fitted with a foam strip on the inside of the vents closure plate which reduces cold spots, helps seal the plate and improves the noise reduction performance in the closed position.

Flexible rout size
The vent is designed to be fitted on either a 13mm or 10mm rout height with test data available for both.

What is a Dn,e,w sound reduction figure?

A Dn,e,w figure reflects testing at every frequency and it is the only result recommended by the BRE for products such as trickle vents.

As there is no industry standard for presenting acoustic test results, be wary of unspecified dB figures being quoted. The unspecified figure may be the highest dB achieved at a frequency and may not be relevant o your application or source of noise.

A Dn,e,w result reflects the true performance of the trickle vent.

Frequently used terms for acoustics
1Hz is one wave cycle per second, 20 Hz is 20 per second, where the cycles are 20 times shorter and closer.

A ‘frequency band’ is a continuous range of frequencies between an upper and lower limit.

An ‘octave band’ is a frequency band where the upper limit is twice the frequency of the lower limit.

A ‘one-third octave band’ is a frequency band where the upper limit 2 times the frequency of the lower limit.

Intensity of sound is measured in Decibels (dB). This is a logarithmic scale in which an increase of 10 dB doubling loudness.

All tricklevent colours are available boxed as bagged sets or bulk packed “pick n mix”.

Bagged sets – The vent (internal) and canopy (external) are bagged and are both the same colour, normally 50 sets per box.

Benefit; Sets are easy to pick and ship with each window. Typically, vents can be taped to windows or added to the hardware box that accompanies each delivery.

Colour on white sets – The vent (internal) and canopy (external) are sold as sets (white internal vent with a coloured external canopy), normally 50 sets per box.

Benefit: No need to buy two sets of vents, (a white set and a colour set) then dispose of the excess parts, so half price?

Bulk packed – The vent (internal) or canopy (external) are sold separately (one colour only), normally 100 parts per box.

Benefit: This allows for a “pick n mix” option on the production line. This allows more effective purchasing on volumes and “special” colours whilst being easily adaptable for colour on white. Buy more of the colours you use the most, and carry minimal stocks of slower moving colours.

For technical and reproduction reasons there maybe slight visual differences of colours shown on this page. Free samples are available to be ordered from the Glazpart webstore.

Recommended screw for fitting the AluVent
You should wherever possible use screw fixings as specified, recommended or supplied by your systems house, alternatively fix the AluVent with the recommended fixings as detailed below which are readily available from trade counters.

There is a variability in which type of screw is suitable dependent on form factor and sizes involved. The AluVent uses a countersunk self-tapping, stainless-steel fixing. Which reduces the risk of galvanic corrosion between the aluminium profile and the fixing.

We recommend fixings from Rapierstar.

For self-drilling and tapping
A Rapier star StarPVCU CSR 3.9mm x 16mm to 25mm stainless steel window screw.. This would not need a pilot hole, but care is needed with swarf impacting the connected component.

Follow this link for more information HERE

For self-tapping
A Rapierstar stainless steel, self-tapping screw – cross recess – CsK Head with and AB point

GST 3.9mm or 4.2mm x 16 to 25mm. Pilot hole would be necessary before insertion.
