Banbury-based Glazpart, is a specialist injection moulding company with extensive experience in the fenestration industry, employing 80 staff at its ISO 9001:2008 certified site, producing millions of mouldings each month.
Glazpart has revised its range of flexi corner wedge products to improve the installation of glass when installed in a window or door assembly frame.
A flexi corner wedge replaces two standard wedge packers and correctly locates them into the frame corner quickly and easily. They are then used in conjunction with Glazpart wedge packers and a glazing shovel to obtain a tight fit.
BS 6262 outlines the need for packers to be located 30mm from the corner of the glazed unit. With these parts they locate automatically and eliminate the need for silicone on the vertical (location block) to retain the packer during installation.
Installation or toeing and healing can then be carried out as normal. The flexi corner wedge reduces site time is where applicable working at height and location is correct to the products design.
According to Andy Clegg, Head of Technical – Quality and Compliance, The Fenestration Academy.
“…The use of flexi corner wedges is technically the best means of toeing and healing glass…”
The Flexi corner wedges are supplied flat, saving space in your installers transport. Once on site the “flexi” is simply bent over in the center and the patented Glazpart snap lock mechanism engages to achieve an accurate 90 degree corner. The majority of the range is a sloped design however, to take up larger gaps accurately the Sawtooth design of corner wedge, used in conjunction with sawtooth sliders. The inbuilt ratchet design locks the wedges in place during installation.
The Glazpart product range covers sizes from 9 mm to 38 mm and includes the key industry sizes of 24 mm and 28 mm. The flexi corner wedges are designed to suit 60 mm and 70 mm profiles and there will be a size to suit many profile channels.
