On the 10th of September, Glazpart’s Managing Director, Ken Hanley was delighted to attend the official opening of the new outdoor playing area for the Children’s Ward at Horton General Hospital.

The re-design and development of the area have given it not only a colourful makeover, but a great new outdoor area for children to play, relax and enjoy.

At the unveiling, Ken expressed his delight with the finished project saying, “We’re really pleased to support the local Horton Children’s Ward and thrilled to see the difference this development has made for the children and staff.”

The new outdoor area has a stunning mix of colours with blue and white decor, natural timbers and with surrounding greenery from a variety of plants. The children’s activities include a new climbing frame, a basketball area, a mini-chute and a bouncy castle.

The re-design also includes shaded seating areas, safe soft ground surfacing and is accessible for children who use wheelchairs or also for those who are unable to leave their beds.

Tamsin Rawlings, from the hospital’s charity team, said: “Time outdoors is so important for children’s mental and physical health and being able to access this fantastic green space during a hospital stay will have a huge positive impact on the young patients. We are thrilled at this transformation and incredibly grateful to Glazpart for their very special support.”

Ken highlighted Glazpart’s part in local community projects as he summed up, “Glazpart has been in Banbury since it started four decades ago. This new outdoor playing area truly is a transformation for the hospital and the children are going to really enjoy this special space.”

The outdoor play area makeover was carried out by Kidlington landscaping company, Hadingham Kirk and was funded by Horton General Hospital Charity with a donation from Glazpart.
