      BI-FOLD VENT GAINS INDUSTRY RECOGNITION

      3rd March 2026

Since it was launched at FIT Show 2025, the Bi-Fold Vent has proved a popular product with bi-fold door manufacturers across the UK.

The vent has also been recognised by industry awarding bodies with In October last year it was nominated for “New Product of the Year” at the National Fenestration Awards (NFAs) and just last month it was shortlisted for “Best Technical Innovation” category in The GGP Installer Awards which takes place 19 March 2026 in Manchester.

So why is the Bi-Fold Vent proving to be popular with fabricators? It seems it is all in the design which is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. In addition the product also helps compliance with building regulations.

Specifically manufactured for aluminium bi-fold doors, its shallow height is designed to work within the low hinge stack heights when the doors in a bi-fold system are in the open position. It has unique low-profile louvred canopy design combined with a low profile vent to allow both the internal vent and louvered grille clip in to easily sit between the open concertinaed door leaves.

The Bi-Fold Vent helps regulatory compliance with an independently tested equivalent area, it sits in a 16mm rout and in many cases, can be located directly into the door leaf or frame, removing the need for expensive additional “knock on” or extended profiles. With an EQA of 2700 a 3-panel door meets the background ventilation requirements for the room.

Moulded from high quality virgin ASA, Bi-Fold Vents are highly temperature and colour stable when compared to UPVC.  Initially available in white, black and anthracite grey, bespoke and matching  colours can also be manufactured (depending on demand).

On the Bi-Fold Vent’s popularity and recognition, Dean Bradley, Glazpart Sales Director commented, “The Bi-Fold Vent has proved a welcome addition to our product portfolio and I’m delighted to see it has also received industry recognition by two awarding bodies in less than a year since launch. It augers well for the future for this innovative product.”

To find out more about the Bi-Fold Vent please visit Bi-fold door vent – Glazpart or to discuss an order please contact Dean Bradley, dbradley@glazpart.co.uk.

On October 3rd, Glazpart exhibited in London at the SEHTA (Science and Engineering Health Technology Alliance) International MedTech Expo & Conference which was hailed by SEHTA as a resounding success.

SEHTA welcomed 215 delegates to the event which had 23 Sponsors and Exhibitors, representing the vibrant communities of MedTech, Life Sciences, NHS, and Business Support services.

In the same week, Glazpart also exhibited at  Bio-forward 2025, at Oxford Technology Park, hosted by OBN. As a member of SEHTA, Glazpart earmarked both events as opportunities to grow their profile and create awareness of their manufacturing capability to produce innovative products for the medical devices sector.

At both events Glazpart’s team Dean Bradley and Fay Bibi were on hand to share their expertise, show product samples and discuss Glazpart’s role as specialist plastic components manufacturer and supplier to the sector.

Both events were excellent for raising our brand profile and for engaging with potential customers.”

Dean Bradley, Glazpart Sales Director added, “Glazpart operates across many industries but this last year or so we have started to increase our activity to promote our services and products for the medical devices sector. Now we are members of SEHTA, we are attending their niche events where we can promote our services and components and directly engage with key players in the sector. In addition, we have been raised our profile and activity on social media, in the trade media and via partnerships with related sector organisations like SEHTA and GMTA.”

The company has a diverse range of services including 47 injection moulding machines supported with its own bespoke tool room, controlled manufacturing area (clean area), full assembly services and vast array of surface finishing. Using the latest technology Glazpart delivers a wide range of injection moulded plastic products.

Glazpart’s services start with its expert technical and engineering teams where customers are supported in the design, development and production of their concepts and ideas. The team assist in ensuring products meet customers’ design and performance criteria whilst optimising production costs to the necessary quality levels. Being based in Banbury, Oxfordshire, also helps shorten delivery lead times and makes the company easily accessible.

Dean Bradley explains, “In the last few years, Glazpart has invested heavily in the latest CAD/CAM software giving an in-house design facility with 2D and 3D software packages to ensure responsiveness, adaptability and accuracy. Rapid design is possible with SLA and 3D printed samples of finished design concepts being made available for fit and function assessment. In addition, some of our recent projects have seen Glazpart’s engineers replace costly metal components with engineered injection moulded replacements saving customers thousands of pounds.”

Glazpart’s focus on the medical devices sector is set to sharpen even more in 2026 with the company already planning to attend medical technology exhibitions next year in Coventry and in Ireland as well as continuing to attend SEHTA events.

Fay Bibi summarised, “Glazpart’s expertise in plastic injection moulding stretches back 40 years but the company needs to remain at the sharp end of the technology to meet the demands of specialist markets such as the medical devices sector. 2025 has been a busy and productive year and we’re looking forward to even more activity in 2026, to help companies in the sector find practical and affordable product solutions.”

          AN INTERVIEW WITH MELANIE BIVENS

          9th January 2026

Women in the Industry section in Glass News (January 2026 edition), Melanie Bivens, Glazpart Area Sales Manager

          At Work

How did you get into the industry?

Whilst on maternity leave with my daughter, I’d never used a recruitment agency before. I gave it a go and my first interview was with Glazpart. At the time, I had no idea what fenestration was, let alone trickle vents and plastic injection moulding. But after some extensive googling, I managed to get my head around it and got the job!

What was your first job after school/college?

When I was at college and after I graduated, I worked in a lovely little country pub which had a bar and restaurant and held many events including music nights, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve etc. It was great times, but I worked some very long days and nights.

Brief resume of jobs up to current position?

Whilst working in hospitality, I also worked full time in a contact centre for a renowned bank. I didn’t feel it was for me so I moved into care work, first with elderly and then adults with disabilities. Looking for more sociable hours I decided to move into the hygiene sector and was offered a job in sales/account management and I loved it. After four years, I joined a national builders merchant doing much the same thing, until I joined Glazpart.

Are your skills transferable to any industry?

Yes. This is proven for me, as I’ve done a similar job is three different industries. As long as you’re good with people and do what you say you’re going to do, then you can learn about the products. In my opinion, being honest, helpful and having a good sense of humour are key skills to success.

          Career path mapped or opportunities?

I’ve not had any part of my career mapped out. My original thought was to be an actress after gaining a drama school place in London. But decided not to go for a few reasons, so now I just go with the flow and take opportunities as they come. I believe in what’s meant to be, will be.

          5/10 years’ time?

I like to think I’ll still be with Glazpart and in the industry. I love working for Glazpart, they are the best company I’ve ever worked for. So, I’ve got no plans to go anywhere – unless I get a massive lottery win.

          At Play

All work & no play makes Jill a dull girl. True or False?

100% true! There’s no point in working really hard without some enjoyment. If you spend a lot of time working you’ve got to do the other things in life that make you happy.

          Work/life balance?

I’m getting there with this one. It’s been a busy year both in work and familywise. With the big things out of the way, I’m looking forward to some good rest and relaxation after a pre-Christmas break to Lapland with the whole family. Hopefully in 2026 I can start to enjoy more of a work/life balance.

Money/leisure time no object, what would you like to do for yourself & family?

I would travel, just pack up and go wherever I fancied. I got married in Italy and I fell in love with it so I’d like to see more. An American road trip would be a dream as I love the USA. Also, just spending time with my family and to be able to say yes to anything they want. I’d also extend my bag and shoe collection, ha-ha.

          At Rest

Away from work – what’s your focus?

Outside of work, family is my focus. My daughter is three going on thirteen and she keeps us on our toes plus with 4 step kids it’s always loud and busy. Also, my family and I love watching football and being big Arsenal fans we enjoy going to the Emirates Stadium, especially as they are going so well in all competitions this season.

What activities help you switch off?

As boring as it sounds, I like to go for a walk or read a book. I try to reduce time on my phone and devices in the evenings and just be with my husband and kids. I like to watch late night murder documentaries which might not help my sleep, but there’s just something about them.
